She was predeceased by: her parents, Catherine Mahar and John Edwards. She is survived by: her husband Donald S. Gates; her siblings, Jim Edwards (Virginia Edwards) and Janet Loeffler; her children, Kylee Kirby (Bryce Kirby) and Andrew Gates (Stephanie Gates); and her grandchildren, Penny, Oliver Gates, Kennedy, McKinley and Sullivan Kirby. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Behe Funeral Home (21 Main St, Oxford, NY 13830).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Joan Gates to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
