She was predeceased by: her parents, Vene G. Hickein and Helen Hickein (Wilkins); her husband James R. McCarthy; her son Michael McCarthy; her granddaughter Mary Lou McCarthy; her brothers, Robert and George Hickein; and her nephew Gary Kushner.
She is survived by: her children, Brian (Kathleen McCarthy), Jonathan (Elizabeth McCarthy) and Sally; her son-in-law Joseph Scordino, Jr.; her grandchildren, Maureen Martens (Matthew), Joseph Scordino III (Sarah), Keri Anne Davis (Zac) and Laura Scordino (Jess); her sister-in-law Vivian DeWitt; and her nieces, Kay, Chris and Ann. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
