He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Schmitt; his parents, John H. Schmitt and Margaret Schmitt (Sandwick); and his brothers, Jack and Jim Schmitt.
He is survived by: his sons, Donald, II (Cheryl), Timothy (Janelle) and Barry (Debbie); his grandchildren, Phillip (Brett Ashley), Tara (Matt), Alexandra (Ben), Jonathan and Christopher; and his great grandchildren, Emerson, Effie, Jenna, McKinley and Charlotte. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene (3732 Waverly Rd, Owego, NY 13827). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at the Tioga Cemetery (3751 Waverly Rd, Owego, NY 13827).
