With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Samuel Carmen Zappala of Oswego, New York, who passed away on October 26, 2023 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Antonio Zappala and Catarina Zappala (Arena); his former wife Genevieve Zappala (Cerklewich); his son James; and his siblings, Rosaria "Sarah" Manasseri, Maurice Zappala, Rose Manasseri, Angeline Santore, Jenny Rookie, John Zappala and Helen Battiato.
He is survived by: his significant other Oswego Growers; his friend Sam; his children, Constance Decker (Dana) of Fayetteville, Diane Ferguson (Richard) of Oswego, Deborah Ahart (Ron) of The Villages, Sam A. Zappala of Oswego, David Zappala (Alla) of Oswego and Christine Zappala Tuzzolino of Miami; and his daughter-in-law Cathy Zappala (James) of Cato. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
