He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham Gonyou and Elizabeth Gonyou Sr. (McGregor); his wife Carol Gonyou; and his brothers, Abraham Gonyou Jr., Gordon Gonyou, Keith Gonyou and Carl Gonyou.

He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Gonyou (Raymond Tennant), Betty Burry, Roger Gonyou Jr. and Bryan Gonyou; and his siblings, Larry Gonyou, Lloyd Gonyou, Donna Compo and Kathy Kirkey. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
