He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Carol (Maciag); his children, David Jr and Frank Hathaway Jr. (Zaida); his stepchildren, Brian and Jason Kuna; and his siblings, Lawrence Hathaway (Jean) and James Hathaway (Cathy). He was also cherished by nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Buffalo.
