He was predeceased by: his parents, James McCrea and Alice McCrea (Reilly); his wife Doreen K. Rider; his siblings, James "Merritt" McCrea, Joseph Edward McCrea, George McCrea, Alice "Sis" McCrea and Jane Cecelia McCrea; and his daughter-in-law Karen McCrea.
He is survived by: his children, John McCrea Jr. (Moira Paddock) of South Thomaston, Debbie Meyerhoff (Garth) of Edgartown, Duane "Mark" McCrea of Hamlin and Tammy Shaver (Al) of Meridale; his grandchildren, Kiely St (Josh), Cameron Paddock McCrea, Christopher Meyerhoff (Anna), Adam McCrea (Kim), Morgan Belliveau (Dave), Marissa and Megan Shaver; his great grandchildren, Layla St. Germain, Thea, Metta Meyerhoff, Parker, Colton McCrea, Mason and Weston Belliveau; his sister Pat Mooney; his sister-in-law Connie McCrea; and his caregiver Sandra Fitch. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
