He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Montgomery Shoemaker and Helen Davis Shoemaker; his wife Michelle Russell; his children, Kaitlin Kilroy (Andrew), Elise Barthel (Brendan), Ariel Wittmer (Michael), Neil Shoemaker (Rachel Barry) and Montgomery Shoemaker; his grandsons, Everett Herbeck and Neil Shoemaker; and his siblings, Suzi, Nancy, Monty, Alecia, Barbara and Katie Kreydt.
