He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Merrell and Pearl Buffum Merrell; his wife Clara Anne Gerew; his daughter Sharon M. Merrell; his grandsons, Kristopher R. Francisco, Michael Witter, Zachary Keller and Nicholas R. Garrey; and his siblings, Sandra Egan, Allan Merrell and David Merrell.
He is survived by: his children, Burdette L. Merrell, Jr. (Ellen) of Perry, George W. Merrell (Louise) of Cuba, Kimberly Ann DeGroff (James) of Bolivar, Tina M. Francisco (Rex) of Scio, Michael J. Merrell (Vonda) of Niagara Falls, Linda M. Harris (Dana) of Wellsville, Clarence E. Merrell (Marsha) of Lima, Pauleen M. Dudley (Rory) of Bolivar, Richard James Merrell of Lexington Park, MD and Sandra J. Brizzee (Brian) of Wellsville; his siblings, George "Coach" Merrell (Pauline), Arliss Merrell (Lynn) and Howard Merrell; and his nephew Keith Merrell (Cheryl) of Bergen. He is also survived by 77 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eden Heights Activities Department.
