He was predeceased by: his parents, Beecher Whitney and Jean Whitney. He is survived by: his children, Kacie Whitney (Robert Brown) of Ogdensburg, Russell Whitney of Ogdensburg and Jacob (Nicole Warner) of Ogdensburg; his stepsons, Zachary and Nolan Rishe of Ogdensburg; his siblings, Kevin Whitney (Mary) of Ogdenburg, Jean Goldie (Robert) of Lisbon and Maureen Woods (Scott) of Hammond; his aunt Anne Bertolf of Ogdensburg; his grandchildren, Kierce Whitney, Spencer Whitney and Emerson Rishe; his former wife Kimberly Graveline-Munroe; and his wife Susan Dickinson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
