He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Geraldine McGowan; his children, Kelly McGowan of Ogdensburg and Marc McGowan of Chicago, IL; his grandson Cormac McGowan of Chicago, IL.; and his parents, George McGowan and Margaret McGowan (Tyson). He was also cherished by one of eleven brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the ASPCA, 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128-6804 and St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
