He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor DeGeyter and Barbara Provan DeGeyter. He is survived by: his wife Sheila Bullivant; his children, Nathaniel (Heather), Alison Thela (Brian) and James DeGeyter; his grandchildren, Bryan, Jarrod DeGeyter, Elizabeth and Brandon Thela; and his brothers, Jeffrey (Elaine) and Terrance DeGeyter (Pamela). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
