Kathy Pauline (Vautrin) Shifrin Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathy Pauline (Vautrin) Shifrin (Nyack, New York), born in Suffern, New York, who passed away on May 17, 2021, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends.

Kathy's greatest joy in life came from helping others, as is reflected in her career choices. She was previously employed as a mental health therapist with Letchworth Village and a dispatcher for the Village of Haverstraw Police Department. She was a past member of the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps and the Rockland County Foster Parent Association.

Kathy was also an avid animal lover, often taking in strays and nursing them to good health. Kathy was affectionately known as the neighborhood mom to many of her children's friends. She would welcome so many children into her home, making them feel as if it were their home away from home. Kathy was a great listener and offered counseling to many. Her strength and determination have been an inspiration to all that knew her. Kathy will be sorely missed by family, friends and those whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her children Jose Batista, Maritza Corriveau and her husband, Jacques, Jason Batista and his wife, Kemisola, Alisha Batista, Valerie Shifrin, Britney Shifrin, Davona Shifrin, Derrick Shifrin and her many beloved grandchildren and great granddaughter. Kathy is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Margaret Vautrin, her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Bernadette Vautrin and her son, Justin Shifrin.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at George M. Holt Funeral Home, 50 New Main Street, Haverstraw, NY.

A private funeral service was held on Thursday, June 18th, 2021 at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY
