He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward P. McNamara and Alma McNamara (Falle); and his brother John Vincent "Jack" McNamara. He is survived by: his wife Joyce (Emmick); his sons, John Vincent (Pamela), Paul Edward (Margaret), James Charles (Carla), Steven Robert and David Richard (Sherry); and his sister Imelda. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
