He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Neil, Lillian Hackett, Larry and Gloria Dunagan; his uncles, Kenny and Gary Hackett Sr.; his aunt Thelma Brazee; and his brother-in-law Elton Palmer of Lebanon.

He is survived by: his wife Amber Hackett (Thornton); his children, Charlotte M. Hackett and Nicholas L. Hackett of South Otselic; his parent Morris L. Hackett Sr.; his siblings, Jennifer Button (James) of Plymouth, Jennifer Stith (Jake) of Pitcher, Sherri Palmer of Lebanon, Wendy Hackett of Norwich and Morris L. Hackett Jr. of Bouckville; his brother-in-law Brian Button of Plymouth; his aunt Tate; and his uncles, Bill and Howard Brazee. He is also survived by six nieces, six nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
