It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert Gene Finch of Northville, New York, born in Fish House, New York, who passed away on September 7, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Esther Iretta LaPiere Finch and Gordon Nelson Finch; his wife Mary Ellen; and his brother Roger Finch. He is survived by: his children, Randall R. Finch (Renee) of Edinburg, Evonne M. Barber (John) of Edinburg, Rodney G. Finch (Dawn) of Edinburg, Evette M. Ostrander (Bart) of Mayfield and Reggie B. Finch (Rebecca) of Providence; his grandchildren, Amber Vandenburg (Catlin), Gordon Finch (Mandy), Jessica West (Jason), Robert Barber (Tanya), Kayla Hayes (Will), Cynthia Ostrander (Sean), Shadow Ostrander (Heather), Jenna Finch (Mike) and Kaylee Finch; his great grandchildren, Trevor, Travis Vandenburg, Luke, Molly West, Rodney, Sadie Hayes, Matthew, Konner Barber, Lillian Comini, Abigail Krutz, Ellie and Lydia Ostrander; and his siblings, David Finch, Patricia Ferguson (Roger) and Flora Howitt (Dave). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gary Shaw wrote a sympathy message

“Bob was one of the best natured people I ever had the privilege of knowing. I am sure he had his moments, but my recollection is that he was always about as upbeat as anyone could be, even in the face of adversity. He and Mary Ellen were the glue that held the Wilbur Clan together for decades. The family gatherings at their house are among my fondest memories. The Finch family is a wonderful legacy to two really fine human beings.”
