He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Smolka and Viola Smolka (Kudla); his former wife Lucille Smolka (Ostrowski); his siblings, Diane McHale (John) and Thomas Smolka (Marilyn); and his sister-in-law Alice Insalaco.
He is survived by: his wife Judith (Januszewski-Fedeson); his children, Christopher Smolka (Katherine), James Smolka (Linda) and Elaine Duquette (Jeffrey); his grandchildren, Adam Smolka, Anna, Daniel, Jeffrey Smolka, Brian and Julia Duquette; his brother Raymond Smolka (Patricia); and his sisters-in-law, Eugenia Frommert, Jeanette Barberio and Janet Heffernan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis High School, Athol Springs.
