He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret "Margo"; and his parents, Gordon Planty and Ruth Crowley Planty. He is survived by: his children, Karen Cahill of Fayetteville, Susan Bottjer (John) of Land O'Lakes, FL, Michael Planty (Michelle) of Derwood, MD and Ronald Jr. of Derwood, MD; his siblings, Judith L. Caringi of Parishville, NY and George V. Planty of North Syracuse; and his grandchildren, John, Patrick Cahill, Heide, Tyler Bottjer, Samuel and Charles Planty.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home (3111 James St, Syracuse, NY 13206). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. An entombment was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 at the Our Lady.
