He was predeceased by: his wife Catherine; his daughters, Shelia Miller and Kathleen Scanlon; and his siblings, Mick Scanlan, Ned Scanlan and Nora O'Leary.

He is survived by: his daughter Josephine Scanlon; his son-in-law Steven Miller (Sue); his brother Sonny Scanlan (Helena); his sister-in-law Maureen Scanlan; and his grandsons, Sean (Rebecca) and Scott. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
