He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Mathers and Elizabeth Mathers (Goldby); his wife Hilda; and his siblings, William Mathers, Shirley Jennings, Betty Irwin, Lillian Edick and Linda Sutton.

He is survived by: his daughters, Beth (Delbert Tso) and Tricia (Michael Chaput); his grandsons, Ethan Tso, Andrew Tso and Joshua Ficke; and his sisters, June Berry and Judy Montgomery. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
