He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Hughes and Florence Hosford Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Irene M. Mackay Hughes; his sons, Walter T. Hughes Jr. (Jo-Anne) and Robert A. Hughes (Denise); his grandchildren, Robert, Austin, Evan, Laurissia and Cai-Lin; his brother Kenneth E. Hughes; and his niece Pamela I. Edwards. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
