He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Carey and Erma Carey; his sisters, Joan (Babcock) and Dorothy (Smith); his son Brian; and his granddaughter Alison Rose (Waclawek).
He is survived by: his wife June; his sons, Allen (Amy) and Peter; his grandsons, Matthew (Evalise), Michael and Asa; his grandson-in-law Justin Waclawek; his great grandchildren, Ada Rose Waclawek and Madison Rose Carey; his brother Glenn (Helen); and his brother-in-law Lorne Babcock.
