He was predeceased by: his parents, Adélord LaPlante and Rose LaPlante (Guérin); his wife Juliette M. Latreille; his sons, Peter and Alain W.; and his granddaughter Lucienne M. Joubert.

He is survived by: his children, Guy (Kathleen LaPlante), Louise (Michael Renna), Denes (Debbie LaPlante), Carole LaPlante (Corina Remington), Susan LaPlante of Canton, Jean (Stephen Peets), Daniel (Louise LaPlante) and Steven (Monica LaPlante); and his sisters, Germaine of Quebec, Theresa of Quebec and Laurance of Quebec. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Peter's Parish Outreach Ministries (formerly St. Vincent DePaul).
