He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J. Burke and Mary Burke; his wife Norma Lillian Burke; and his brother James Burke. He is survived by: his children, Christopher Burke (Irene), Timothy Burke (Mary Pat), Kathy Ryan (Joseph) and Nancy Pierce (Gary); his son-in-law Steven Cardinali; and his grandchildren, Edward, Matthew, Mary Burke, David, Andrew Burke, Frankie Ryan, Sophia Underwood (Andrew), James and Lillian Pierce. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
He worked as a toll collector for the NYS Thruway Authority for more than 30 years before moving on to his "second career" as a jack of all trades and maintenance man at Proctors Theater, starting with the theater's renovation and reopening in the late 1970s, and working right up until the pandemic shut the theater down.
