He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Murphy and Etta Rae [Gilliam] Murphy; his wife Mary Louise Murphy; and his daughter-in-law Joyce Murphy. He is survived by: his children, William L. Murphy, Jr. (Mary Jo), Patrick Murphy (Kathy), Susan Hossfeld (Charles), Mary Hager (Sam), Donna Shahbaz (Bruce) and Melissa Musall (Douglas). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
