He was predeceased by: his parents, Marlan Murphy and Margaret Green Murphy; his wife Doris Collins; and his sisters, Marsha Coy, Patricia Murphy and Lucille Murphy.
He is survived by: his sons, Charles Bennett of Niagara Falls, David Bennett (Reba Davis) of Olean, Ken Bennett of Alfred and James Nelligan of Salamanca; his brothers, Michael Murphy of Little Valley and Ralph Haxton of Wellsvile; and his grandchildren, Daniel Nelligan and Zoe Nelligan. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home (3128 W State St, Olean, NY 14760). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
