He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter E. Paonessa and Sarah G. Paonessa (Serrianni); and his siblings, Mary Pelsoni (late Peter) and Joseph Paonessa (late Gertrude). He is survived by: his wife Patricia D.'Patty' Paonessa (Alaimo); his son Christopher Paonessa; his brother Russell Paonessa (Carla); and his in-laws, Gerald Alaimo (late JoAnne), Rodney Alaimo (Linda) and Terry Wall (Richard). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

If desired, memorial offerings may be made to The Niagara Falls Music Hall of Fame.
