He was predeceased by: his parents, Newton Backus and Lena Backus. He is survived by: his wife Angela; his sons, Matthew Ury (Jane) and Vance Backus (Michelle); and his grandsons, Brian Walker, Joshua and Nathan Backus. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
