He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Slater and Esther Slater (Woodward); his brother Stewart; his brother-in-law Stephen McCall; his nephew Steven Thompkins; and his close friend Penny Douglas.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry; his children, Jason Slater, Eric Slater (Jennifer) and Elisa Monroe (Charles); his grandchildren, Nicolas, Zachary, Andrew, Caleb, Hannah, Lily and Malachi; and his sisters, Marilyn McCall, Lynda Crispell (Dan) and Janice Ring.
