He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Darling and Doris Darling; his wife Mary Ann Darling (Tarbox); and his siblings, Robert Darling and Sharon Turner.

He is survived by: his close friend Donna Darling (Inman); his children, George Jr. (Rosa) of Vestal, NY, Marty Darling of Berkshire, NY, Wendy Whitmarsh (Jeff) of Berkshire, NY and Amy Bibbins of Candor, NY.; his sister Alta Patterson (Stuart); and his sister-in-law Naomi Tarbox. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren.
