He was predeceased by: his parent John Nielson. He is survived by: his parent Anna Thrush Nielson; his wife Peggy; and his children, Richard, Michael, Cindy, Peggy Ann and Denise. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
