He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Richard Retta and Joyce Retta (Brown); and his uncle Edward Retta. He is survived by: his wife Sharen R. M. Retta (Anderson); his sister Debra Quinn (Patrick); his stepmother Mathilde Jean Retta; and his stepsisters, Linda Ofeldt, Diane Stillwood and Cheryl Scaccio.
