He was predeceased by: his father Ottis Vince Grounds, Jr.. He is survived by: his significant other Jacqueline Rae Bare; his stepdaughter Sylvia Silberger of Hempstead, NY; his mother Betty Catherine Grounds Jr. (Craft); and his siblings, Rory Christopher Grounds, Gregory Ottis Grounds and Kris Grounds Greenlee.
Later in life, his long-term exposure to Agent Orange led to a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.
