He was predeceased by: his parents, James E., Sr. and Mary Brady Monahan; and his sisters, Ethel and Dorothy. He is survived by: his wife Marianne Monahan of New Harford; his children, Jim Monahan (Mary) of New Hartford, Kevin Monahan (Stephanie) of New Hartford, Chris Monahan of Syracuse, Maureen McDonnell (Thomas) of West Seneca and Bridget Monahan (Robert Harris) of Mohawk; his grandchildren, Daniel, Patrick Caitlin, Ainsley, Emilie, Aidan, Jacob, Mariah, Arleigh, Christopher Jr., Chase, Catherine, Luke and Holly; his sisters, Mary Hanley and Ruth Crenshaw; and his siblings-in-law, Louis "Butch" Baia, John (Joan Lutz) and Janice Lutz. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services (13 Oxford Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes (2222 Genesee St, Utica, NY 13502). A burial was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at the Calvary Cemetery (2407 Oneida St, Utica, NY 13501).
