Starlotte Bassett Obituary
Starlotte Bassett (Star) 64 of New Berlin passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.
Star was born in Dansville, NY on October 9, 1960, the daughter of Ernest and Patricia (Babcock) Hall. She grew up in Dansville where she attended the local schools. Over the years she has lived in Perkinsville, North and South Carolina, Virginia Beach and Sicily, Italy. She has made her home in New Berlin for the past 17 years. While making her home in New Berlin she was active in the community. Star was very active in the South Edmeston Church where she taught Sunday School, was a Deacon of the church as well as a Trustee. She had also worked in Virginia Beach hotels and for the ARC of Livingston County.
Star was a kind and soft-spoken lady, but you always would know what she was thinking. Star adored babies and small children which made her a perfect fit for teaching Sunday School. A lover of the outdoors she enjoyed working in her flower bed and garden. Sewing, quilting, and making costumes were also some of her pastimes. It goes without saying that Star was a HUGE fan of John Denver.
Star is survived by her children MaryAnne Luther and husband Benjamin Butterworth of Columbia, TN, Erich (Jennifer) Luther of New Berlin, Sarah Luther of Dansville, Cory Bassett and her grandchildren Haley and Aiden Luther and Serenity and Naomi Bassett. Star is also survived by her siblings Patty Jones , Ed (Becky) Hall and Floyd Hall all of Anderson, SC, Morris (Victoria) Hall of Campbell, NY, Melanie Brooker of Wayland, NY, Tanya Hall of Dansville, NY, and Leanna (Dan) Douglas of Nunda, NY. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Star was predeceased by her husband William "Dan" Bassett.
A Memorial Service for Star will be held on Wednesday, March 5, at 2:00 pm from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Howard will officiate.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1-2 pm.
