He was predeceased by: his parents, Winnie Taylor and Sam Jones; his wife Harriett; and his siblings, Marguerite Whitfield, Mildred Taylor and Jim Taylor.
He is survived by: his children, Leslie Evans, Freida Hines, Donna Hawkins, Kevin Taylor and Melvin Hines (Laurie). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
