He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Schmitz and Anna Schmitz (Schlatterer). He is survived by: his wife Joan Schmitz (Virrill) of Valentine's Day; his son James Schmitz; his grandsons, Erik and Robert Schmitz of Cape Elizabeth; his brother Ernest Schmitz; his nephew Robert Schmitz; and his great-nieces, Michelle and Robin Schmitz.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home (418 Bedford Rd, Pleasantville, NY 10570). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Emanuel Lutheran Church (197 Manville Rd, Pleasantville, NY 10570).
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bill's name to the American Heart Association or the Cape Elizabeth, Maine Children's Library.
