He was predeceased by: his parents, Seymour P. Tompkins and Beatrice Tompkins (Tice). He is survived by: his wife June; his children, Scott Tompkins (Andrea), Tracy Mosca (Antonio), Kristine Cotton and Michelle Burke (Chris); and his grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, Melissa, Thomas, Michael, Lauren and Steven.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donald's honor to Trinity-Boscobel United Methodist Church, 275 Church Street, Buchanan, NY 10511.
