He was predeceased by: his wife Norma Rennells Bannister; his son Richard Bannister; and his brothers, James, Stanley and Robert Bannister.
He is survived by: his children, Tom Bannister (Debbie) of Montour Falls, Laurie Hanlon (Mike) of Horseheads, Donna Bannister of Montour Falls, David Bannister (Kim) of Montour Falls and Cheryl Herold (Mike) of Montour Falls; and his caregivers, Faith, Chris, Barb, Cassi and Dick. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montour Falls United Methodist Church or to the Montour Falls Fire Department.
