John T. Callahan Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John T. Callahan (Montour Falls, New York), born in Newark, New Jersey, who passed away on August 21, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was a voracious reader of history, naming his beloved poodle "Theodore Roosevelt, II', loved building model airplanes, boats, Seneca Lake, studying his Irish family genealogy and assisting others with genealogy research. Jack is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley (Mickel), his children; Ruth, Terry (Lisa), Jane, and Patricia; 7 granddaughters; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Agnes Nastanovich; sister and brother-in-law, Fay & Gene Lewis, sister-in-law, Helen Callahan; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Stout, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins here and in Ireland. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew; great-granddaughter Lillian Shirley; his parents; brothers, Thomas, Larry; sister, Patricia; brother-in-law, Robert Stout, and brother-in-law Robert Nastanovich. Memorial donations may be made to the Schuyler County Historical Society, or CareFirst Hospice Services. The family extends their gratitude to the staff of CareFirst for their kind and sensitive support of Jack and his family during his final days. A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday September 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Montour Cemetery, Mill St. (upper entrance). Family and friends are invited to join. Arrangements are by Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls.
