She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Gerald Symes and Kathryn Symes; her grandfather Charles Fryer; her children, Ellen Mathers (James) of Montour Falls and John Smyder (Linda) of Wylie, TX; her brother Kenneth Symes (Joyce) of Zephyr Hills, FL; her grandsons, Gregory Smyder (Heather) and Geoffrey Smyder (Christa); her great grandchildren, Kyle, Blake, Joanna, Emily and Elizabeth; and her husband John W. Smyder, Jr..

Contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and American Alzheimers Association.
