Zita Catherine Speer Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Zita Catherine Speer of Monticello, New York, born in Sugar Notch, Pennsylvania, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 28, 2024 at the age of 103. She was predeceased by: her husband Harold Speer; her parents, Philip Duffy and Bridget Kane Duffy; her siblings, Mary Duffy, Hannah Scanlon, Margaret Duffy, Eileen Schmidt, Philip Duffy and James Duffy; and her daughter-in-law Susan Culligan Speer.
She is survived by: her sons, Philip Speer of Monticello and Michael Speer (Debbie); her grandchildren, Shawn Speer (Amanda Petrone-Speer), Ryan Speer (Blake Starner), Kevin Speer (Cyndi Speer) and Carly Speer; her great grandchildren, Finn, Aden, Addyson, Grayson Speer, Dylan, Ayden and Hunter Buschell; and her friends, Nelly Culligan and Mary Garber. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Zita was awarded the Town of Thompson RSVP Senior of the Year in 2018, at the age of 97.
