He was predeceased by: his parents, Marlin (Margaret Vaillancourt-Carty) and Stephen; his brother Charles; and his nephew William Lance Lavin. He is survived by: his sisters, Rita Lavin-Waller of Brooksville, FL and Karen M. Carty of Franklinton, NC.; his nephews, Eric Lavin and Michael R. Habiniak; and his niece Christine Habiniak-Voss.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands, NY a cause close to his heart.
