Blaauw of Mellenville, New York, born in Staten Island, New York, who passed away on April 6, 2022, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sons, Robert (Mary Jane) of Sand Lake, NY and John of Philmont, NY.; his parents, Edwin Blaauw and Ruth Blaauw (Hale); his brother Edwin of Hendersonville, NC.; his grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Carla), McKenzie, Erica (Matthew), Andrea and Calista; his great grandchildren, Cameron, Madelyn, Tessa, Harrison, Cody and Georgianna; and his close friend Pat Palen. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
Bill was awarded the 2020 Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 due to delays associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and was named to the Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Hall of Fame.
