It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Elizabeth Gifford of Mechanicville, New York, who passed away on April 20, 2025, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Florence Evelyn Lutz and Leslie Paul Gifford Jr.; and her brother Leslie P. Gifford III. She is survived by: her daughter Amelia Elizabeth Gifford; her sister Rev. Theresa Coors Gifford; her niece Amy (Carcel DuBose); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Kiana and Damaris; her godson Leslie Paul Gifford IV (Abigail); her niece Gretta Dahl Hansing (Nathan); her goddaughter Lilly Jean Hansing; her niece Janine Lister Hansing; her friend Aileen Hemstreet Durrant; and also Matilda.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Chase-Smith Funeral Home (173 Main St, Schaghticoke, NY 12154). A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at the Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mohawk Humane Society.
