He was predeceased by: his mother Phyllis Ryder; his grandmother Antoinette B. Rushford; and his parents-in-law, Carl and Nancy Fabi. He is survived by: his wife Patricia (Fabi); his children, Edward Ryder and Megan Phelps (Scott); his granddaughter Maxine; and his pet Charlie.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to either the American Cancer Society or Patients Activity Fund of Glendale Nursing Home, in respectful memory of Edward "Ted" Ryder.
