He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernice Northrup Beattie and George Wallace Beattie; his brothers, Laurence, Rodney, Carl and Leon; and his children, Thomas and Barbara.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Bowman Beattie; his children, James II Beattie (Lisa) and Gail McFall (Dave); and his grandchildren, James III Beattie (Alicia), Christopher Beattie (Heidi), Connor Beattie (Jenniellen), Kaitelyn Hill (Brad), Thomas Leonard and Shelbee Wilcox. He is also survived by four great-granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cortland County SPCA or the UPC Living Memory Fund.
