He was predeceased by: his parents, George Kester and Ruth Weber Kester; and his siblings, Jim Kester, Marjorie Szulewski and Mary Ellen Lewis.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lee Finley Kester; his sons, Jeffrey Kester (JoAnn) of Bemus Point, NY and Gregory Kester (Tamara) of Peachtree City; his grandchildren, Corinna Hooge (Timothy) of Buffalo, NY, Christina Anderson (Burt) of Bemus Point, NY, Lieutenant Jake Kester of Wright, Airman, Class Casey Kester of Niagara and Air Reserve Base of Niagara Falls, NY; his great grandchildren, Griffin and Gigi Hooge; and his brother Dale Kester (Rita) of Ashville, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
