He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Kempf and Gertrude Kempf (Fahr); his siblings, William Kempf, Jeanne Talmage and Robert Kempf; and his pet Brandy.

He is survived by: his wife Christine Pletka; his son Herbert Kempf (Eileen); and his grandchildren, Josh Kempf and Grace Kempf. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
