He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Lanning and Rose Lanning (LaMore); his son Steven T. Lanning; and his brothers, Christopher "Bucky", Donald Lloyd, Ronald and Danny Lanning.
He is survived by: his wife Sally A. Steward; and his sons, Bernard Jr. (Brenda), Thomas (Barb) and Michael (Christine). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
